Understanding the SIM Registration in the Philippines
The SIM Registration is an act that requires citizens to register their SIM cards to avoid deactivation. This law holds the goal of minimizing cybercriminals’ activities and other online-related issues, such as online information and spam. Users have 180 days from the law’s effectiveness. This registration is for all SIM cards, including:
- Newly bought SIM.
- Old SIM.
- Newly bought SIM for a Minor.
- Old SIM for a Minor.
How to Register your SIM for the Registration Act?
To register your TNT SIM, follow the step-by-step instructions below for a smooth registration process.
Step 1. Start your Registration
Visit the official TNT SIM Card Registration portal.
Both Smart and Sun Cellular, both prepaid and postpaid subscribers, use the same link.
Step 2. Mobile Number Verification
Enter your mobile number and tick the “Terms & Conditions” and “Privacy Notice” boxes. Then click the “SEND OTP” button.
Check that you own the number by sending a one-time password to your mobile phone.
If you miss the text message, remember you can request to resend the OTP within two minutes. Stay alert.
Step 3. OTP Verification
Enter the OTP sent to your mobile number and click the “VERIFY OTP” button.
If you enter the correct OTP, a “Success!” pop-up will show on the page. Click the “OK” button to continue.
Step 4. Customer Information Page
Provide the required personal information on the Customer Information page with the following:
- Any of the official government ID(s) below:
- Passport
- Police Clearance
- Voter’s ID
- Philippine Identification
- Firearms License to Own and Possess ID
- Senior Citizen’s Card
- Social Security System ID
- Professional Regulation Commission ID
- Unified Multi-purpose Identification Card
- Government Service Insurance System E-Card
- Integrated Bar of the Philippines ID
- A person with Disabilities Card
- Driver’s License
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration ID
- Other valid IDs with photo
- ID Card Number
- First Name
- Middle Name (tick the “I have no legal middle name” if true)
- Last Name
- Birthday
- Sex
Step 4A. Photo ID Upload
After choosing an ID Card, upload a photo of your ID for Verification by clicking the “Upload” button.
Moreover, make sure to take a photo in a bright room so the information on the ID is clear.
PRO TIP: Choose the “Upload” option instead of the “Take a Photo” since it is easier and will not take many tries.
Step 4B. Selfie Upload
Upload a selfie for verification.
Take a selfie in a well-lit room to ensure that the photo is clear.
Step 5. Address Information Page
Click “Next” and then fill in the Address Information page.
The page also asks for your address and alternative contact information. Smart may use this information to reach you for additional verification if necessary. For this portion, you may use other SIM cards from other telcos and your email.
Step 6. Summary Page
Click “Next” and recheck all your input in the Summary Page.
If all information is correct, you may proceed to the next step. However, you can click the “BACK” button to change any wrong information.
Step 7. Information Verification
Tick the first box attesting that the provided information is true and correct.
The second box is optional. You may click on it if you allow Smart to send you promotional messages.
Step 8. Sim Registration Reference Number
Click “Next” and take a screenshot of the last page to keep a copy of your SIM card registration reference number.
The reference number will serve as your certificate of registration.
Step 9. Confirmation SMS
SMART will send you a confirmation SMS to verify the registration of your SIM.
Note: Your TNT SIM will receive a similar message below.
Congratulations! Your TNT SIM is officially registered. You may repeat the process for additional SIM cards, including Smart and Sun Cellular.

Users tend to face a series of errors when they make attempts to register TNT SIM cards. Listed below are some of these common problems and solutions on how to resolve them:
Network Issues & Device Compatibility
Users may encounter difficulties in registering their SIMS either due to poor connection or outdated device compatibility. In any case, if you are facing a registration error, double-check your internet and signal connectivity. Double check your smart device thereafter if they are capable of opening the registration portal, if not, you may borrow a compatible device from a mutual.
Mismatched Information
There will be times when the registration process will make errors with users’ details due to various factors, including device compatibility and heavy user traffic. We recommend you double-check your connectivity and read all the input details to ensure everything is correct. Furthermore, try visiting the portal again at another time when fewer people are accessing the site.

Here are some frequent questions users inquire in regards to the SIM Registration process:
What Happens if You Fail to Register Your SIM in Time?
Your SIM cards will be deactivated automatically if you are unable to register them in time. Moreover, these SIM cards will reactivate once they are registered, and it must be done within less than 5 days following the automatic deactivation.
How can I register as a Smart Postpaid user?
For postpaid customers, Smart will notify you and ask for your confirmation about the details and documents you provided when you subscribed as a Smart SIM user. This is information that they can automatically use to register you under the SIM Card Registration Act.
Can I register multiple SIM cards?
YES. There is no limit to the number of SIM cards registered under one name. However, you must register each separately through their respective registration portal links.
For instance, if you have TWO or more Smart SIM Cards, you must register each through the registration portal, repeating the process until you have registered all SIMs under your name.
Meanwhile, if you have different SIM cards from other telcos, such as Globe, DITO, TM, and others, you must register each under your name through the different registration portals provided by the telcos, repeating the process until you have registered all SIMs under your name.
When will the registration end?
Registration began on December 27, 2022, and will end on July 26, 2023, after the DICT and NTC decided on a 90-day extension declared on April 25, 2023.
What happens if I fail to register my Smart SIM Card?
If you fail to register within the registration period, your SIM will be deactivated. This means you will not be able to use it for calls, text, data, and other mobile services.
