CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, PHILIPPINES — A sports car collided with a motorcyle at Masterson Avenue, Zone 11, Barangay Carmen of this city resulting in the death of a mother and daughter pair on November 10.

Analy Mabaylo died with her daughter, Rodana Mabaylo, both residents from Zone 1, Barangay Balulang, due to a sports car colliding with the motorcycle the pair were riding in Zone 11, Upper Carmen in this city earlier this morning.

City Traffic Investigator Police Corporal Maximo Judaya said that based on the initial investigation, the sports car driven by 27-year-old Louie Neri Amodong was speeding when he collided with the motorcycle driven by Rodana.

Judaya revealed that Amodong was avoiding a car but ended up colliding with the mother and daughter’s motorcycle. The investigator noted that Amodong stole the lane that Rodana was on.

Judaya confirmed that the doctors at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center were unable to save Analy’s daughter Rodana because of the number of injuries she sustained from the accident; she was only a 16-year-old minor.

Suspect jail-free

The suspect did not escape the incident and was peacefully taken into police custody.

Though the PNP prepared to file a case of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide and damage to property, an agreement has been reached between the two sides on issuing criminal charges.

Analy Mabaylo’s mother, Eleuteria Mabaylo, agreed to make an amicable settlement with the suspect so the dead bodies of the victims could quickly go through the burial process.

Amodong has been set free from criminal charges after reaching an amicable settlement with the victim’s family in front of a lawyer. Investigator Judaya said that Analy’s mother accepted the cash that Amodong gave as a result of the incident.

The incident is closed, and the criminal case against the suspect will not be filed despite criticisms. – WhatALife!/Zed
