LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Philippine music icon Sarah Geronimo has etched her name in history by becoming the first Filipina to be honored at the prestigious Billboard Women in Music event. 

The celebrated singer and actress received the Global Force award during a Thursday ceremony at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, California (Manila time).

Geronimo, globally recognized for her hit “Tala,” graciously accepted the accolade, dedicating it to her fellow Filipino artists in the Philippines and worldwide.

“I humbly accept this award on behalf of every excellent Filipino artist back home and all over the world,” Sarah stated. 



She emphasized the award’s significance as her courage and hope for artists to overcome challenges and unite for positive change through music. 

Sarah Geronimo’s heartfelt acceptance speech resonated with her audience as she proudly proclaimed, saying, “Once again, I am Sarah Geronimo from the Philippines. Mabuhay ang OPM. Maraming maraming salamat po.”

The milestone was celebrated on social media by Geronimo’s husband, actor Matteo Guidicelli, who shared a photo of the award, drawing attention to this significant achievement.

Prior to the event, Geronimo expressed her honor in representing the Philippines on such a prestigious platform and took the opportunity to highlight the influential role of her mother, Divine, whom she lauded as her “hero” in an industry that celebrates the achievements of women.
