SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA — TvN’s “Hospital Playlist” is possibly coming back with a prequel to the series with the story setting 20 years before the events of the series.
According to tvN on June 1, reports about Shin Won Ho creating “Hospital Playlist’s” prequel have been spreading. There have been rumors of Shin Won Ho creating a drama, but no clear confirmation of it being related to the Hospital Playlist.
The series’ prequel will be set during Lee Ik Joon, Chase Song Hwa, Kim Jun Wan, Ahn Jeong Won, and Yang Seok Hyung’s college years which is 20 years before the storyline of “Hospital Playlist.”
It was reported that in the prequel series Shin Won Ho PD would not be the director of the series; however, he would contribute as a creator of the prequel.
With the series being 20 years before the original series, the main cast of “Hospital Playlist” will not be in it; instead, their younger counterparts/actors will be taking the spot. Actors Jo Jeong Seok, Jeon Mi Do, Jung Kyung Ho, Yoo Yeon Seok, and Kim Dae Myung will be the existing main characters in the prequel.
Just like the shows “Prison Playbook” and “Reply,” Shin Won Ho’s team is holding auditions for actors at the current moment.
“Hospital Playlist,” PD Shin Won Ho’s popular project started in March 2020. The first episode of Season 2 of “Hospital Playlist” aired in September 2021 and was rated by people across the country with an average of 10 percent and a maximum of 12.4 percent, ranking first in tvN’s all-time drama first broadcast ratings.
“Hospital Playlist” became a favorite series for people showing the beautiful friendship between 5 doctors with different points of view who somehow get along just fine.
