How to Renew your Car Registration Online

Since online renewal is still in its early stages, you’ll still be required to step away from the comforts of your home and venture out to renew your Car Registration. However, this will only apply to your very first online renewal. The proceeding renewal would also be online if your previous renewal were done online.

Linking your Vehicle to your LTMS Account

The first step for renewing your vehicle registration is to link your vehicle to your LTMS account. To do this, you’ll need to go to your nearest LTO Office and submit a request for the transfer. In addition, the vehicle’s Certificate of Registration must have the current owner’s name listed as the owner.

Update Your Certificate Of Coverage (COC)

Certificate of Coverage is your vehicle’s insurance. To proceed with the online renewal, your insurance provider must send an electronic copy of your certificate to your LTMS.

With this, you can then proceed to the next step.

Motor Vehicle Inspection Report

Another documentary requirement required for renewal is your MVIR. You can get this document by bringing your vehicle to an LTO-accredited Private Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (PMVIC). If your car is approved to be safe for driving, the PMVIC will send a confirmation to the LTO and link it to your LTMS account.

Other Documentary Requirements.

Additional documentary requirements might be required to renew your motor vehicle’s registration. These documents will include;

  • A Certificate of Emissions Compliance
  • Taxpayer’s Identification Number
  • Official Receipt of Payment (for cars under the mortgage).

Preparing these documents beforehand will ease your online registration. Moreover, this will pave the way for a more straightforward process for the following renewal schedule.

Using LTMS to Renew your Car Registration Online.

Once you have finished the steps above, log into your LTMS and proceed with the renewal process. Here’s a step-by-step guide for renewing your vehicle’s license:

  1. On your LTMS dashboard, click the vehicle icon, which is located on the left side of the screen.
  2. Afterwards, LTMS will then present their terms of use. Click on I Agree to proceed.
  3. You will then be prompted to select which vehicle to renew if you have other vehicles registered in your name.
  4. Next, select the type of renewal for your vehicle, whether it’s for a private vehicle, utility vehicle or a passenger car.
  5. Fill out the next part with the requested information.
  6. Present your documentary requirements, including their electronic copies
  7. Proceed to payment. The renewal fee will vary depending on the vehicle type. Payments using e-wallets are also accepted.
  8. Once the transaction is completed, print the OR from the system as proof of renewal.

Additional Tips For A Smooth Online Renewal Of Your Car’s Registration

  • Similar to the traditional way of renewing your vehicle’s registration, you must prepare your document requirements weeks before your schedule to avoid penalties.
  • Make sure your car is in peak performance before visiting the PMVIC. Check the following car parts if they are functioning as intended:
  • Engine;
  • Tires;
  • Clutch System;
  • Brake System;
  • Cooling System;
  • Seatbelts;
  • Exhaust Pipes;
  • Car Horn;
  • Headlights;
  • Windscreen Wipers;
  • Signal Lights;

These parts are the ones that are commonly inspected. Any abnormalities might affect your vehicle’s performance and hinder your renewal.

Although online renewal is convenient, it only allows renewal to vehicles without any pending or late payments or issues. –WhatALife!/Vaughn
