Despite the medical and technological advances of today, humanity has yet to discover ways to manufacture blood. For 2017, for the country to reach its target, at least 1.03 million people (1%) should donate. On June 13, 2018, two decades after the implementation of Republic Act No. 7719, the Department of Health (DOH) announced that the goal of collecting one million blood units has finally achieved. Republic Act No. 7719 highlights the promotion of voluntary blood donation, providing for an adequate supply of safe blood, regulating blood banks, and providing penalties for violation.
