WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the ITCZ (Intertropical Convergence Zone) is affecting Mindanao, Eastern VIsayas, and Palawan.
The ITCZ is a result of the collision of winds between the northern and southern hemispheres. Due to this weather system, Mindanao, Eastern VIsayas, and Palawan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
In some portions of Visayas and the whole of Mindanao, light to moderate rains are expected in the morning, which will become heavy rains in the evening. If heavy rains continue, flashfloods or landslides may occur, and rivers and beaches may overflow.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country have a possibility of sudden rainshowers due to Localized Thunderstorms. These rains often do not last long, only going on for 30 minutes up to two (2) hours.
At the moment, no Low-Pressure Area (LPA) is being monitored by the weather agency.
“Sa kasalukuyan, wala rin tayong mino-monitor o binabantayang Low-Pressure Area o sama ng panahon na maaaring makaapekto sa anumang bahagi ng ating bansa,” said PAGASA Weather Forecaster Daniel James Villamil.
(Currently, we are not monitoring any Low-Pressure Area or bad weather that may affect any part of our country.)
The PAR (Philippine Area of Responsibility) will remain clear in the next day, and the chances of a tropical storm will stay low until the weekend.
