weather update december 2 2022

WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the country is forecast to experience colder temperatures in December 2022 and January 2023 due to the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan. Meanwhile, two weather systems continue to affect the Philippines – shear line and easterlies.

The return of the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) brings colder temperatures to the country. Check out the forecast ranges of minimum temperature by the 154th National Climate Forum below:

For today’s weather forecast, the easterlies will bring humid weather to some parts of the country but will also cause isolated rain showers in the easter portions of Visayas and Mindanao. Meanwhile, the shear line continues to affect Eastern Luzon.

No Low-Pressure Area (LPA) is currently being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. DOST-PAGASA Weather Specialist Benison Estareja also reports no tropical cyclone until the weekend.

WEATHER TODAY – DECEMBER 2, 2022

Rains continue to affect Palawan due to the easterlies. Residents are warned of possible floods and landslides. On the other hand, the eastern portion of Luzon, specifically Batanes, Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of Quezon, and Camarines Norte, is forecast to have cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

The rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, is forecast to have fair weather with partly cloudy skies. However, by evening, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, the rest of Quezon, and the Bicol Region may expect isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

The easterlies will bring cloudy skies and isolated thunderstorms to the east of Visayas and Mindanao.

Northern Panay, Negros Provinces, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi have high chances of rain in the morning. On the other hand, the Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao may experience rain in the afternoon.
