MANILA, PHILIPPINES — With less than three months left before the deadline, Globe Telecom, in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), launches the National SIM Registration Week.
The launch commemorates the rollout of 500 SIM registration assistance desks nationwide by Globe, starting February 20, 2023. Globe said the initiative will help ramp up the number of registered SIMs as well as assist senior citizens, PWDs, pregnant women, and customers with basic phones or who have no internet access.
“It’s a historic moment for Globe as we endeavor to get closer to our customers through online channels and on-site booths. We encourage our customers to be part of this activity. Together let’s keep the online space safe and secure,” said Globe Consumer Mobile Business Head Darius Delgado.
The launch of NSRW was attended by various officials of Globe, with NTC Commissioner Ella Blanca Lopez, DITC Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo, and Makati Mayor Abigal Binay.
Other than the new 500 SIM registration desks, Globe said it has already deployed 90 SIM registration hubs in remote areas across the country in January.
It has also partnered up with Puregold to set up 30 SIM registration desks in strategic branches nationwide. Globe also provided SIM registration assistance during the Sinulog Festival in Cebu and Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo.
