Gaisano City Mall Cinema in CDO closes permanently TODAY

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, PHILIPPINES — After 20 years of bringing affordable cinema experience to Kagay-anons, the Gaisano City Mall CDO Cinema will be permanently closed starting today, January 18, 2023.

The official Facebook page of Gaisano City Mall CDO posted the announcement of its cinema closure with the headline “GAISANO CINEMA BIDS GOODBYE.

“For more than 20 years of Service, Gaisano City Mall Cinema will be permanently closed effective January 18, 2023,” the post read and added, “Thank you so much for the memory over the years.”

Meanwhile, many Kagay-anon netizens flocked to the comment section, citing memories they had with the cinema.



“Diri among first movie date with my high school crush-now my husband🤗. Always be part of our love story😔🥰❤️,” Facebook user DZ Lyn wrote.

“Hala! mura rag life wla ta kbalo nus.a matapos ang chapter! Hahah charoot! last na lantaw na diay to ang Avatar the way of Water.. thanks gaisano cinema. Dghan q memories dre,” commented Facebook user Jiv Eva.

“Gaisano City Mall Cinema,,,, way back 2008, my first Experience watching Movie at the Big Screen, since in Camiguin my hometown don’t have, and my first movie i watched was the CAREGIVER by Sharon Cuneta.. until years goes by i quite watched movies at GCMC as it was so affordable. #goodmemories,” shared Vince Petersen.

The management has not released any statement on why the Gaisano City Mall CDO Cinema closed. However, many notes that with the rising users of streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+, the Gaisano Cinema may have faced the effects of easy access to digital media.
