MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Avril Lavigne is now officially engaged to Derek Ryan Smith, known as rock musician Mod Sun. The singer announced this on her Instagram account on April 7, 2022.
The Pop Punk Queen, Canadian singer-songwriter, shared their sweet portraits with polaroid pictures of the romantic proposal of Smith in Paris. They captured the Eiffel Tower as their background.
“Oui! Je t’aime pour toujours ???Dimanche. 27. Mars. 2022” is the caption of her post, which translates to “Yes! I love you forever ?? Sunday. 27. March. 2022.”
She also posted a picture of them that shows her big heart-shaped diamond ring.
The 35 years old rock musician shared his comment on her fiance’s post by saying, “love u so much! Forever n ever my angel.”
After Lavigne’s post announcing their engagement, he then shared an Instagram post with a picture of them and his poem in the caption.
“The day we met I knew you were the one.
Together forever til our days are done.
I had a dream where I proposed in paris.
I pulled out a ring + asked you to wear it.
I was on one knee as I looked in your eyes.
You’re too beautiful for my words to describe.
I grabbed your hand + took one last breath…
I said “will you marry me?” + she said “yes”.

During her interview with PEOPLE, she shared her thoughts on the proposal.
“It was the most perfect, romantic proposal I could ever ask for.”
She also shared their memorable events during their stay in the city.
