PAGASA: LPA in Indonesia affects PH

weather update december 19 2022

WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), no Low-Pressure Area (LPA) is being monitored close to the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Still, Indonesia’s LPA extends into the Philippines, causing today’s cloudy skies in some parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

The weather agency also reports that the Bicol Region and the province of Romblon will continue to experience heavy rain due to the Shear Line.

The Quezon province, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Palawan & certain areas of Southern Luzon may expect rain showers brought on by the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan. Rain will also fall in isolated regions of Luzon, but rainstorms & thunderstorms are unlikely.

PAGASA confirms there is still a chance that there will be a typhoon even as 2022 draws to a close.

For today’s weather forecast, the majority of Manila and the rest of Luzon may expect good weather for the rest of the day, with a chance of isolated rain showers. Temperatures in Luzon range from 24 degrees Celcius to 32 degrees Celcius.

Areas in Visayas will likely have isolated rainstorms and thunderstorms due to the trough or the extension of the Low-Pressure Area (LPA). Temperatures range from 24 degrees Celcius to 30 degrees Celcius.

Meanwhile, most parts of Mindanao may experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms for the rest of the day, especially in some parts of the CARAGA and Davao Regions. Temperatures range from 24 degrees Celcius to 32 degrees Celcius.

The weather agency continues to issue a gale warning to areas in Northern and Central Luzon due to the Amihan or Northeast Monsoon. It is not advised to go mid-sea because of the dangerous ocean waves. Said areas are as follows: Batanes, Cagayan (including the Babuyan Islands), Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Isabela, Zambales, Bataan, and Aurora.
