HOLLYWOOD — Star Wars Rebels is having a lasting impact on the entire Star Wars franchise, with many key characters either appearing in live-action – or expected to do so.

Disney’s first major Star Wars release, Rebels, initially had to deal with comparisons to Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as it was essentially that show’s replacement. Set in the Dark Times of the Empire’s reign, Rebels kept some elements from Clone Wars but took a very different narrative approach.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars was an anthology, whereas Star Wars Rebels had an episodic structure. As a result, Star Wars Rebels got to flesh out its main characters, the crew of the Ghost, turning original characters like Ezra, Sabine, and Kanan into real fan favorites.

Ezra Bridger’s rumored return to the Star Wars universe was swiftly sparked by the introduction of Purrgil early in the third season, although he hasn’t yet made an appearance.

Five years after its finale, Star Wars Rebels is now setting narratives and providing characters for some of the most important Star Wars projects, including The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.

Star Wars Rebels have appeared in live-action productions, including Rogue One and The Mandalorian. Chopper was the first to appear in Rogue One as a background cameo, while Kanan Jarrus had his voice featured in The Rise of Skywalker. The Grand Inquisitor and Fifth Brother have been recast for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and Sabine Wren is set to appear in the Ahsoka series. Hera Syndulla’s appearance in Ahsoka has yet to be confirmed. Ezra Bridger will also be making his live-action debut in Ahsoka, and Zeb Orellios appeared in The Mandalorian Season 3.

Viewers’ expectations for these Star Wars Rebels characters in live-action are understandably high, given the popularity of the animated series and the love fans have for these characters. Many fans have been eagerly waiting to see these characters come to life in a live-action setting, and there is a lot of anticipation for their appearances in upcoming Star Wars Disney shows, seeing how rebels will continue to shape the future of Star Wars. – WhatALife!/Jayve
