SIM CARD REGISTRATION UPDATE — The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) reports that over 43 million SIM cards, or 26.01 percent, have been registered as of March 12, 2023.
On the official SIM Registration Update page of NTC, 43,956,300 SIM cards, or 26.01 percent of the 168 million subscribers, have been registered as of 11:59 pm on March 12, 2023.
Of the 43 million total, 22.3 million are SMART subscribers (32.85 percent of its 67 million total users), 18.2 million are Globe subscribers (20.80 percent of its 87 million total users), and 3.3 million are DITO subscribers (25.52 percent of its 13 million total users).
DICT considers extending SIM registration
DICT Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo said on Thursday that DICT is contemplating and deliberating on the possible extension of SIM card registration for another 120 days.
This decision is due to records showing only nearly half of the subscribers have yet to register two months before the set deadline on April 26, 2023.
