PAGASA: No Signs of Super Typhoon At The Moment

WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), no warning signs of the cyclone have been spotted. The tropical cyclone, international name Mawar, is set to be categorized as a super typhoon named Betty when it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

There have been no signs of warnings about the cyclone as of yet, as it is still located 2,300km east of the Visayas. The typhoon will soon be categorized as a super typhoon. There have been no warnings on coastal water conditions, as they will be slight to moderate height of 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

PAGASA reports that there will be moderate thunderstorms, cloudy skies, with rain showers across the country today. However, the weather would be fair for most parts of the country.

Weather Today – May 23, 2023

For today’s weather forecast, Palawan will be experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the South Westerly Wind Flow which may have the residents be weary of possible flash floods or landslides with the moderate rains. Although the weather will be fair most of the time, heavy rain may hit during the afternoon.



Average temperature on Palawan will range from 23.8°C to 33°C.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will also be experiencing cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, the weather will mostly be fair in the Central Luzon region. There was a thunderstorm advisory issued in Central Luzon, but have been terminated according to recent updates on the advisory.

Temperature in Metro Manila and the rest of the country will range from 20°C to 36°C.

Pagasa has issued a Thunderstorm Advisory, here are the following places affected:



  • Western portions of Matagob, Villaba, Tabango, Isabel, Palompon, and San Isidro
  • Eastern portion of Danao City
  • Western portion of Inopacan, Hindang, Hilongos, and of Matalim
  • Western portion of Maasin City
  • Coastal barangays of Sipalay City, Cauayan, and Hinoba-an
  • Northern portion of Getafe, Talibon, Bien Unido
  • Bogo City and San Remigio
  • Antique
