PAGASA: Southwest Monsoon affecting Luzon and Visayas

According to the Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Southwest Monsoon will affect Luzon and Visayas, causing moderate to heavy rains.

Weather Today – July 28, 2023

Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Northern Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands will be experiencing Monsoon rains caused by Southwest Monsoon, impacting areas with possible flooding or landslides due to scattered to widespread rains.

Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of MIMAROPA will be experiencing occasional rains also caused by Southwest Monsoon, which will impact areas with possible flooding or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

Cagayan Valley and Western Visayas will be experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by Southwest Monsoon, impacting areas with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.



Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by Southwest Monsoon/Localized thunderstorms, impacting areas with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

For the wind conditions, Northern Luzon will be experiencing strong winds directed from Southwest to South with a rough height of 2.8 to 5.0 meters.

Visayas and the rest of Luzon, on the other hand, will be experiencing strong winds directed from Southwest with a rough height of 2.8 to 4.5 meters.

In addition, PAGASA released an advisory for both extreme and moderate areas. The areas affected are the following:

  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • Pangasinan
  • La Union
  • Isabela
  • Cagayan

  • Bataan Zambales
  • Occidental Mindoro
  • Oriental Mindoro
  • Palawan
  • Antique
  • Negros Occidental
  • Guimaras

Moderate

  • Quezon
  • Rizal
  • Batangas
  • Laguna
  • Cavite
