pagasa-weather-update-february-3-2023

WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan affecting part of Luzon and Visayas is slowly weakening. However, the weather agency clarifies that it is still not the start of the warm, dry season.

Though the Northeast Monsoon continues to affect major parts of Luzon and Visayas, it is relatively weaker than in the previous weeks.

DOST-PAGASA Weather Specialist Benison Estareja clarifies that this does not mean the start of the warm, dry season. The Amihan will continue to affect Luzon and Eastern Visayas until the end of February till March.

No tropical cyclone is expected for the next few days. However, cloud clusters are spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), which may bring isolated rain showers and localized thunderstorms over southern Mindanao by the weekend.

WEATHER TODAY – FEBRUARY 3, 2023

For today’s weather forecast, most of Luzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rain showers, particularly in Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, and Bicol Region.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon has low chances of rain and higher temperatures, which range from 21 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius.

The same weather conditions as yesterday, partly cloudy to cloudy skies, are expected in Visayas. Light rains are forecast in the eastern Visayas, and isolated rain showers in the central and western portions.

Mindanao is set to have fair weather conditions, mostly sunny and warm for the rest of the day. There are chances of isolated rain showers with no relation to a Low-Pressure Area (LPA).

PAGASA has also lifted all gale warnings. However, waves are still moderate to rough, reaching up to 3.7 meters for coastal areas in the eastern sections of Luzon and Visayas. Waves in Mindanao are slight to moderate, reaching up to 2.5 meters.
