Nuggets’ Vlakto Cancar Suffers Torn ACL from Exhibition Game

Forward for the Nuggets, Vlakto Cancar, has sustained a torn ACL on his left knee and undergoes reconstruction surgery.

Due to Vlakto Cancar tearing his ACL on the left knee, he will be out for the rest of the season.  Torn ACL recovery time is about 12 months, so Cancar will most likely be chilling on the sidelines with his teammates for the rest of the season.

ACL  injury recovery time takes a long time and it takes extensive care on the injury for it to heal.

The surgery was done by Dr. Neal Elattrache, who is the same doctor that operated on Jamal Murray’s torn ACL. Murray was not able to play for 18 months until he returned this year and helped the Nuggets claim their NBA title.

Cancar was supposed to compete for a spot in Nuggets after losing Bruce Brown and Jeff Green.

Cancar suffered the injury while playing an exhibition game for Team Slovenia for the 2023 World Cup. Cancar seemed strong when showing for his national team in recent years, including during the game at the 2020 Olympics and the last EuroBasket.

The injury is a major setback for Cancar as the torn ACL recovery time will take a year at least. And with his performance, this will also be a setback for the Nuggets, who lost some of its strength on the bench, and additionally, Cancar will also be out for the season.

Cancar, a second-round draft-and-stash selection (49th overall in 2017), became a semi-regular rotation player in 2022–2023, averaging 5.0 points per game and 2.1 rebounds per game on.476/.374/.927 shooting in 60 games (14.8 minutes per game). He played a total of 10 minutes across five games during Denver’s championship run even though he was not part of the team’s condensed postseason rotation. – WhatALife!/Zain
