As the United States celebrates National Coming Out Day on October 12, new Superman Jon Kent comes out as Bisexual

DC Comics recently unveiled its November 9 issue of Superman: Son of Kal-El #5, announcing new Superman Jon Kent will come out as bisexual.

Jonathan Kent, son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, will come out after starting his romantic relationship with reporter Jay Nakamura—which also depicts that the Kryptonian apple does not fall far from the tree Variety reported.

Superman: Son of Kal-El #5 is a new comic series telling us the storyline of Jon Kent after succeeding his father, Clark, as Superman.

DC Comics writer Tom Taylor expressed the excitement with the development in a statement, saying “I’ve always said everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to see themselves in their heroes and I’m very grateful DC and Warner Bros. share this idea.”

“Superman’s symbol has always stood for hope, for truth and for justice. Today, that symbol represents something more,” he added.

“Today, more people can see themselves in the most powerful superhero in comics.”

Meanwhile, DC Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee said they “couldn’t be prouder to tell this important story.”

“We talk a lot about the power of the DC Multiverse in our storytelling, and this is another incredible example,” Lee said.

The announcement received mixed reactions from DC fans. See some of these reactions below.
