MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Former Pinoy Big Brother winner, actress, and talk show host, Melai Cantiveros, leads Seoul-based film, Ma’am Chief with veteran concert producer, Pulp.
The Filipina star portrays a police officer chasing a criminal in the Philippines all the way to Seoul, South Korea. Aside from the comedienne, she is joined by Alora Sasam, Bernadette Allyson Estrada, Enzo Almario, Jennica Garcia, Karylle Tatlonghari, Manel Sevidal, Pepe Herrera Sela Guia, and more.
Moreover, the Filipino-South Korean film features Korean stars Do Ji Han, Lee Seung, Rolling Quartz, and Yuju. Melai told the Philippine Star in an interview that, “Naiyak ako kasi sa totoo lang ito ang project na talagang blessing ni Lord. Yung alam mo yung project ko na bida na bida ako, pressured ako, gusto ko talagang mabalik yung ginasto sa amin pero hindi ganun ang pressure (dito) eh. Pressured ako kasi parang matatapos na yung bonding namin. Yung staff and crew, sobrang close talaga namin. Itong movie na ‘to, si Lord talaga ang nag-align ng mga stars.”
Melai continued to share that she herself is a fan of Korean dramas, “Fan talaga ako ng K-drama, yung mga anak ko, mga K-pop, mga Blackpink man sila. So, Korean stars, sobrang fan talaga ako kaya ‘di ko na-expect na naka-shoot ako sa Korea at nadala ko pa ang pamilya ko.”
The actress was then revealed to be the only choice by producer Happy Sy-Go. The producer herself even told Melai to just be herself, acting was no longer necessary. Melai continued to add, “Sinabi nila, parang nararamdaman lang ni Inang Reyna na mukha akong tanga hahaha. No, parang nararamdaman niya na happy-go-lucky ako, na magagampanan ko talaga.’Wag lang daw ako mag in-character. Ako daw talaga, no effort required.”
Cantiveros didn’t hesitate to share her gratitude for this film opportunity. The Filipina took to her Instagram to share her thanks, “To My very CooL Producer and Director.
