According to PAGASA, Mindanao will experience thunderstorms with rains due to the Low Pressure Area (LPA), while the rest of the country will be affected by the northeast monsoon today, February 2 (Friday).

The weather bureau forecasts cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Central Visayas, Negros Occidental, and Southern Leyte according to its 4:00 a.m. bulletin. PAGASA states that this weather event may cause possible flash floods or landslides due to heavy to at times intense rains.

Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region will encounter cloudy skies with light rains. This weather condition is not expected to cause an impact in these areas.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are also expected in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. However, this condition is not expected to significantly impact these areas.

The rest of Visayas will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Trough of LPA / Localized Thunderstorms.

Furthermore, the risk of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms will continue to persist across the archipelago.

Meanwhile, PAGASA’s Wind and Coastal Water forecast shows that the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience moderate to strong east to northeast winds, causing moderate to rough coastal water conditions (1.2 to 2.8 meters).

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate east to northeast winds, leading to moderate to rough coastal waters (0.6 to 2.5 meters).

Areas affected by the Low Pressure Area, particularly in Mindanao, are advised to remain vigilant in the surrounding area and to prepare for evacuation when heavy rains occur.
