Every hero has a beginning, and in this intergalactic adventure produced by Disney and Pixar, we see the beginning of Buzz Lightyear – the beloved toy character in one of the best animated films, Toy Story! Watch the official trailer below:
On February 8, midnight, Disney and Pixar mass released the official Lightyear movie trailer over their official social media profiles, from Youtube, Facebook, to Twitter and Instagram.
The movie will premiere on June 17 this year. It follows the adventure of Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear during his intergalactic days. Director Angus MacLane shares that Buzz’s world was always something he was excited about.
He said, “In ‘Toy Story,’ there seemed to be this incredible backstory to him being a Space Ranger that’s only touched upon, and I always wanted to explore that world further. So my ‘Lightyear’ pitch was, ‘What was the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy?’ I wanted to see that movie. And now I’m lucky enough to get to make it.”
MacLane has directed ‘Toy Story’ related short films in the previous year, such as ‘Toy Story of Terror,’ ‘Small Fry,’ ‘Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation,’ and ‘Partysaurus Rex.’ He also helped direct the hit sequel to ‘Finding Nemo,’ ‘Finding Dory,’ in 2016.
The animated movie also features a star-studded cast with A-list actor Chris Evans voicing Buzz Lightyear! Taika Waititi, Keke Palmer, and Dale Soules voice a group of ambitious recruits, while Peter Sohn voices the robot companion of Buzz.
Other than the cast, it’s also revealed that award-winning composer Michale Giacchino is providing the musical scores for the Lightyear movie. The composer has a long history with Pixar and has won an Oscar, GRAMMY, and Golden Globe for his original score in ‘Up’. The Lightyear movie soundtrack will also be available the day of the movie’s release, June 17, 2022.
