MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Broadway Filipino star Lea Salonga talks about the viral video surfacing of her declining to take photos with her fans that were waiting.

On a Twitter post, Lea Salonga wrote, “Just a reminder… I have boundaries. Do not cross them. Thank you.”

On the same thread, a user posted a video of Lea Salonga’s viral video. In the video, she was being interviewed while being asked about her boundaries. She says that people do not know other people’s thoughts and the intent of others. So she likes to keep her boundaries and stay away from strangers.

“My husband constantly reminds me, ‘You have fans, and you should be grateful and feel blessed that you have them.’ I do, I truly do. But when personal boundaries and space are violated, then how am I supposed to react?”

“I understand if you are gonna have a breakdown in front of me or if you’re gonna ask me for a hug. I may not always want to give a hug because you’re a stranger and I don’t know what your intentions are. There’s also that malay ko kung may kutsilyo kang hawak at baka saksakin mo ako. I think that kind of paranoia is in the mind of a lot of artists. You should rightfully have that,” Salonga added.

While some netizens understood Salonga’s point of view and the point of view agreeing that celebrities do not have to always do what the fans say, others say that she was out of line and inconsiderate of the fans.

You should rightfully have that,” she said.

Salonga thanked the user for sharing the post and said, “This is the mindset of many folks in the industry. If you get it, that’s good. If you don’t then I have no good words for you.” – WhatALife!/Zain
