MANILA, Philippines – A government employee from Ligao, Albay claimed her P571 million jackpot prize at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on Tuesday.

During an organized press conference, lawyer Lauro Patiag, PCSO assistant general manager, revealed that the recent lottery winner, a mother of four, had only participated in the state lottery for the second time. The fortunate bettor secured a prize of P571.5 million by correctly predicting the six-digit combination 19-35-25-42-58-05.

Ang masasabi ko lang sa mga nagsasabi na hindi totoo ang mga nanalo sa Lotto ay nagkakamali po kayo. Kailangan niyo tumaya para malaman niyo na totoo ang lotto,” the bettor said after claiming the prize at the PCSO main office.

This jackpot represents the largest lottery prize in 2023. The winner, accompanied by her brother due to safety concerns, claimed the prize. She mentioned purchasing two tickets at a lotto outlet on Rizal Street and utilizing the lucky pick system.

The winner shared that she decided to try her luck following the PCSO’s elevation of the Ultra Lotto 6/58 and the Grand Lotto 6/55 jackpots as part of its “Handog Pakabog” Christmas lotto promotion campaign. As part of this initiative, the minimum guaranteed jackpots for Ultra Lotto 6/58, Grand Lotto 6/55, and Super Lotto 6/49 were all increased to P500 million.

The recipient intends to allocate the winnings to savings and donate a portion to charitable causes. According to the TRAIN Law, a 20% tax is applicable to winnings exceeding P10,000, and this amount will be deducted automatically from the total prize.

Robles emphasized that this reflects the PCSO’s appreciation for lottery enthusiasts during the holiday season. Meanwhile, there hasn’t been a winner yet for the P 574 million jackpot prize in the 6/55 lottery.
