CAGAYAN DE ORO, PHILIPPINES — Benjie S. Manuel, a renowned Kagay-anon fashion designer and former president of Oro Fashion Designers Guild, died on March 5, 2023. He was 54.
Benjie Manuel was regarded as one of the well-known fashion designers in the Philippine Fashion Industry and Pageantry.
According to Alec Lilet Salazar, a cousin of Manuel, the fashion icon suffered from diabetes with renal failure after his COVID-19 infection in 2022
Friends and family flocked to social media to commemorate the late fashion designer and have shared sentiments on his passing.
EJ Marquez, a close friend of Benjie Manuel, wrote on Facebook, “If not for you I wouldn’t be where I am now. Thank you for your Generosity, your Good Heart, your Kindness. You are the ONE AND ONLY. Salamat sa imong support sa Adalia Model House and your love to every aspiring model who wants to reach their dreams. Salamat for standing still in the fight against HIV. You are one of the Advocates for our cause that I look up to.”
