Bridgerton season 3 will have two release dates, with the first half to premiere on Thursday, May 16, while the second part will drop on Thursday, June 13, year 2024.
In the first two seasons of Bridgerton, the storyline closely followed Julia Quinn’s initial novels. However, the third season is set to jump into the fourth book. This means that viewers can anticipate a Spring season filled with the intricate romance between Nicola Coughlan’s (Penelope Featherington) and Luke Newton’s (Colin Bridgerton), affectionately termed as #Pollin.
In the earlier episodes, we witnessed Penelope’s heartbreak when she overheard Colin expressing his disapproval to court her, despite her long-standing affection for him. Nevertheless, the synopsis for the upcoming season hints at a scandalous chapter in Penelope’s life as she embraces newfound independence in the bustling London society.
“Penelope has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin after hearing his disparaging words about her last season,” the synopsis reads.
“She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly,” the synopsis continues.
“Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder,” it added.
“Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.” written in the synopsis.
Bridgerton’s second season premiered on Netflix on March 25, 2022, and by the time the third season is released, more than two years will have passed since viewers last immersed themselves in the world of the ton.
Nevertheless, according to IGN’s review of Season 2, the show has convincingly demonstrated that it is not merely a passing success but has sustained its appeal beyond the initial season.
