General Santos City remains under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) beginning July 1 to July 31, 2021, declared by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF). This means movement and activities will be allowed with some restrictions.

Moreover, non-essential travel in the city will remain banned. On the other hand, essential travelers are only allowed to stay within the maximum days required in the expedition. Proof of accommodation and/or other adequate justification shall be presented by the travelers staying for more than 24 hours to be assessed by the personnel at the border control points.

A Must!

Travelers are expected to follow the minimum health protocol, including the observance of physical distancing, frequent hand sanitizing, proper couch etiquette, and adequately wearing of face masks and face shields at all times. In addition, must have no close contact with COVID-positive individuals in the last 14 days. If possible, conduct a week or two of personal isolation prior to the date of travel.

COVID-19 swab test requirements

Travelers need to present an RT-PCR (nasopharyngeal) NEGATIVE test result conducted by a DOH-accredited lab facility or saliva-based RT-PCR NEGATIVE test conducted by the Philippine Red Cross ONLY.

Test results shall be valid within 72 hours from administering the test.

Regardless of a NEGATIVE result, travelers are still subjected to at least seven (7) day mandatory quarantine. Moreover, travelers found POSITIVE in antigen tests shall complete the 14-day compulsory quarantine period.

Contact Tracing Tool

All inbound passengers must have their QR Codes for contact tracing and monitoring purposes. For General Santos City, the local government uses the TAPAT scanners, and travelers must register and download their QR Codes to successfully enter the city premises. (READ: Traveling to GenSan?
