The list of 2024 holidays in the Philippines have been formally released by the country’s official gazette. To make the most out of these occasions, here are the essential dates to remember!
Regular Holidays
Regular holidays are those that we celebrate on a fixed date every year. Here are the 2024 regular holidays in the Philippines:
- January 1 – New Year’s Day
January 1, will fall on a Monday. Everybody is expected to spend the day embracing the gift of a new year and welcoming everything with a clean slate and a fresh start.
- March 28 – Maundy Thursday
Maundy Thursday will be on March 28. It is a Christian holiday which commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples and the Washing of the Feet.
- March 29 – Good Friday
Meanwhile, on March 29 next year, Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. This day holds great significance for Christians, the dominant religion in the country.
- April 9 – Araw ng Kagitingan
This holiday falls on April 9 (Tuesday) and is in celebration of the country’s heroes who fought and died during the Philippine-American war.
- May 1 – Labor Day
Labor Day is celebrated every 1st of May and is in honor of the economic and social significance of workers in the country.
- June 12 – Independence Day
The Philippines considers June 12 (Wednesday) a regular holiday as it commemorates the day when the country proclaimed independence from Spain.
- August 26 – National Heroes Day
On August 26, which falls on the last Monday of August in 2024, the country will celebrate National Heroes Day. This holiday is dedicated to honoring the brave Filipinos who fought for independence from colonial powers.
- November 30 – Bonifacio Day
Bonifacio Day is celebrated every year on November 30 in the Philippines. In 2024, the holiday will fall on a Saturday.
- December 25 – Christmas Day
It is a given that one of the biggest celebrations in the country, Christmas Day, is a regular holiday. Moreover, December 25 will be Wednesday next year.
- December 30 – Rizal Day
In commemoration of the life and works of the country’s national hero, Jose Rizal, December 31 is also an annual holiday that is honored in the Philippines.
Special (Non-Working) Days
Under the Philippine Labor Code’s Chapter III, Article 94, wage rules for special non-working holidays entail a “no work, no pay” policy for employees, unless a company policy, practice, or a collective bargaining agreement is already in effect.
- August 21 – Ninoy Aquino Day
August 21 is a special non-working day to commemorate the assassination of then-Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., a prominent journalist and politician who opposed the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos.
- November 1 – All Saints’ Day
November 1 (Friday) is a special non-working day for Filipinos to take time to remember and pay respect to their relatives.
- December 8 – Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary
December 8 is an annual special non-working day in celebration of Filipino Catholics’ huge devotion to Mary, who was declared Patroness of the Philippines under the title of the Immaculate Conception.
- December 31 – Last Day of the Year
According to the proclamation released by the official gazette of the Philippines, the last day of the year, December 31, will be a special non-working day in the country.

- Chinese New Year – 10 February (Saturday)
- Black Saturday – 30 March
- All Souls’ Day – 2 November (Saturday)
- Christmas Eve – 24 December (Tuesday)
