Government Scholarships in the Philippines for College Students

CHED Scholarship 2023

The Commission of Higher Education (CHED) accepts applications for scholarships and grants for SY 2023-2024 under the Student Financial Assistance Programs (StuFAPs) to help those Filipinos who are poor but deserving of higher quality education as a long-term development plan. 

Deadline for Application

The scholarship application for SY 2023-2024 for CHED is currently closed and will reopen for those who are aiming to qualify for SY 2024-2025. CHED will make announcements, so those who want to apply for it will wait for reports from official CHED websites and social media accounts. 



Benefits

Depending on the scholarship type, benefits will vary as there will be different kinds of assistance given.

  • State Scholarship Programs (SSP)
    • In full scholarship, students will receive: P30,000 per academic year.
    • In Partial Scholarship, students will receive: P15,000 per academic year.
  • Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA) Scholarship will give students P15,000 per academic year.
  • Grants-In-Aid will range from P6,000 – P12,000 per academic year based on their tuition.
  • The Study Now Pay Later Plan (SNPLP) will give students P15,000 per academic year.

Qualifications

  • General weighted average (GWA) of 96% for the Full State Scholarship Program (FSSP) and Full Private Education Student Financial Assistance (FPESFA)
  • GWA of 93% but not more than 95% for half of scholarships in CHED (SSP and PESPA)
  • Filipino citizen graduate of high school
  • Parents must have an annual gross income of P400,000.
  • Applicants must avail of only one government funded financial assistance program.

Requirements

  • Must be Filipino Citizen
  • Must be a high school graduate, must also acclaim title of:
    • Passer of Alternative Learning System (ALS)
    • Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT)
    • Must have an annual gross income of parents not exceeding P300,000
    • Avail only one CHED scholarship program
    • Must not be a degree program graduate

DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship 2023

Students who want to pursue a career in science and technology can apply for an undergraduate scholarship at DOST. The scholarship is under RA No. 2067, which awards students with talent in science and mathematics and who are willing to pursue careers in that field. 

Deadline for Application

The application period for DOST Scholarships is now closed for the SY 2023-2024. But those aiming to qualify for 2024-2025 scholarships should wait for announcements from DOST for the next academic year. 



Benefits

  • Tuition and other school fees will scholars enrolled in private colleges will receive up to P40,000 per academic year
  • Learning material allowance will be P10,000 per academic year
  • The living allowance will be P7,000 per month
  • Clothing allowance will be given in 1st semester of 1st year only (P1,000)

  • The graduation allowance will be P1,000

  • Non-Stem strand graduates must be 5% of class rankingResident of municipality attested by barangay

The Department of Health is accepting applicants for its Pre-Service Scholarship Program 2023. It provides financial assistance to those deserving students who are looking to pursue a medical degree. The scholarship program aims to support the poor and underprivileged students living in poor areas but has the talent and mind to increase the quality of healthcare services.

LANDBANK Scholarship

Iskolar ng LANDBANK is a scholarship program that LANDBANK established to help deserving but underprivileged students from the 60 poorest provinces in the Philippines. Landbank plans to represent 600 scholar graduates to celebrate the LANDBANK’s 60th anniversary. Every year they support 60 scholars, and it will last until 2028. 

Benefits

  • Scholars will receive P100,000 per year for allowances and pay for expenses such as books, clothing, and other course requirements.
  • Scholars who graduate with honors will receive cash as special incentive.
  • Graduates from the scholarship will get on-the-job training in LANDBANK branches.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have an average grade minimum of 90% and must belong in the top 10% of the class.
  • Applicants must be children or grandchildren of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) who are small farmers and fishers who are high school graduates.

Megaworld Foundation Scholarship

Megaworld Foundation college scholarship program began in 1999 to help students deserving of the scholarship. Megaworld Corporation is a real estate developer for the Philippines.
