Water Sanitation (WATSAN)

The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban (RCEU), through District Grant of RID 3870, is spearheading a vital water sanitation initiative to address the pressing need for clean water and sanitation facilities in the community.

RCEU believes that clean water and sanitation are fundamental human rights, yet many communities still lack access to these necessities, impacting their health and well-being.

Recognizing this urgent need, the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro East Urban (RCEU) has embarked on a transformative project to provide essential water sanitation facilities for the community.

With support from District Governor Gilda “Gigi” Go and Pres. Bing Dacudao, RCEU is utilizing District Grant Number 2447097 for the Rotary Year 2023-2024 to implement the Water Sanitation (WATSAN) project.

This initiative focuses on strategically constructing sanitary public restrooms, starting with facilities in front of the Gusa Barangay Hall. The restrooms, designed with separate cubicles for males and females, will serve the community’s and passersby’s immediate needs.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the project took place on January 15, with the honorable presence of Gusa Punong Barangay, Marlo Tabac.

The construction is projected to be completed by February 27, 2024, marking a significant milestone in enhancing sanitation infrastructure in the area.

Moreover, the WATSAN project’s success has allowed RCEU to extend its impact further. With excess funds, the club plans to renovate the children’s comfort room in the Gusa Day Care Center, benefiting sixty learners.

Established initially three decades ago under the leadership of then RCEU President Sarah Borja, the Day Care Center remains operational, catering to the educational needs of the community’s youngest members.

Acknowledgements are extended to Architect Rtn Jonel Juaneza Tabilla and her dedicated team for their invaluable contributions to the project.

The unwavering support and hard work of every member of the WATSAN team and RCEU are also recognized with gratitude, underscoring the collective effort behind this endeavor.

As Project Chair, Rtn Grace Go exemplifies RCEU’s commitment to advancing water sanitation initiatives, ensuring a healthier and more prosperous future for the community.

Through collaborative efforts and unwavering dedication, RCEU continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
