PAGASA: Low Pressure Area moving South of Puerto Princesa City

WEATHER UPDATE – The Low Pressure Area is moving South of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Northeast Monsoon affects Northern and Central Luzon, the Shear Line affects the eastern section of Southern Luzon.

Weather Update Today – December 20, 2023

PAGASA’s weather update today (December 20, 2023) says at 3:00 AM, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 185 km South of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (8.1°N, 118.6°E). Northeast Monsoon affects Northern and Central Luzon. The Shear Line affects the eastern section of Southern Luzon.

Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Western Visayas, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, and Aurora will encounter cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the Trough of LPA / Shear Line. Possible flash floods or landslides may occur due moderate to at times heavy rains.

Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region will also encounter cloudy skies with rains caused by Northeast Monsoon. Possible flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate at times heavy rains.



Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will encounter partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to Northeast Monsoon with no significant impact. 

The rest of the country will also encounter partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by Localized Thunderstorms. Possible flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

According to PAGASA’s Wind and Coastal Water forecast, Extreme Northern Luzon has Strong wind speed directed to Northeast with Rough / (2.8 to 4.5 meters).

Visayas, the rest of Luzon, and the eastern section of Mindanao has Moderate to Strong wind speed directed to the East facing Northeast with Moderate to Rough / (1.2 to 3.0 meters).



The rest of Mindanao has Light to Moderate wind speed directed to the East facing Southeast with Slight to Moderate / (0.6 to 2.5 meters) coastal waters.
