Netflix’s new series “Fubar,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, shows in the opening episode that he is a CIA agent character labeled by his handler “the fastest 65-year-old white guy on the planet.”
“Fubar” is Schwarzenegger’s first ever television series, an eight-episode mix of rough and tumble action and comedy series premiering on Thursday May 25 on Netflix.
“This was an opportunity that was not available in the ’80s and ’90s when I was climbing up in my career after Conan the Barbarian and Terminator,” Mr. Schwarzenegger stated.
Schwazenegger plays the role of Luke Bunner, a CIA operative on the edge for retirement called in to extract another agent from a dangerous mission. The agent in need of saving turned out to be his daughter, Emma, and stunts ensue in their risky missions around the world to contain Boro, a villain seeking weapons of mass destruction.
“He treats me like a child,” Emma complains, played by Monica Barbaro, who shares many of her father’s qualities and keeps intertwining with him in expletive laden lines.
“It is chaotic and that creates a lot of fun opportunities,” Schwazenegger said.
Barbao describes the relationship of the father and daughter complicated as the daughter fights to be anything but her dad but then realizes that the more you fight to not be like the parents, you become more like them.
Comedian actor Feimster, plays a character named Roo, and disrupts the CIA mission meetings with what she calls “something ridiculous” to bring giddiness.
Then there is a character called Barry, played by Milan Carter, a nerdy analyst who is Luke’s handler and someone who is accountable for the 75-year-old CIA agent. Carter says, “It’s a dream.”
For the people who grew up watching Schwarzenegger in Terminator films or Kindergarten Cop, they praise the actor for what he brings to the set, mainly discipline, teamwork, motivation, and an unexpected mischievous side. – WhatALife!/Zain
