MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos declares December 1, 2023, a special non-working day in the municipality of Cainta, Rizal in celebration of the Sumbingtik Festival.

The SumBingTik Festival, which was first celebrated in 2014, is an annual cultural long-week festival held in Cainta, Rizal, along with the town’s founding anniversary and the feast of Our Lady of Light, the patron saint of the town. This year’s theme is “Pistang Perya sa Cainta”.

On Monday, November 27, the office of Mayor Elen Nieto said that a grand float parade will be held. The local government employees and officials will join the activity at 4 p.m. onwards.

Some other activities in the municipality include Fun-Run Color Cainta, Ms. Gay Queen 2023, One Cainta Bikers Fun Ride, Youth Can Dance, Grand Float Parade  which are Suman, Bibingka and Latik themed, and  the awarding for Best SumBingTik house award. 



Filipino Sports and band concerts are also included in the festival and one of its highlights this year, which will be held in Cainta Municipal Ground. 

Marcos announced the non-working holiday through Proclamation No.407, where residents of the municipality of Cainta will participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration. 

This marks the first long weekend of December 2023.
