Scholarships are available from various government entities for Filipino high school graduates and college students.
Aside from that, several government entities grant scholarships to Filipino undergraduate students. Below is a list of government scholarships in 2022 that you can apply for.
1. DOST-SEI
The Department of Science and Technology is encouraging Filipino youths to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Scholarship spots for DOST-SEI undergraduate students in 2022 have become available, according to the DOST Science Education Institute. The scholarship’s goal is to promote knowledge-driven progress through human resource development.
SCHOLARSHIP PRIVILEGES
- Tuition Fee Subsidy: ₱40,000 per academic year for those who will enroll in private HEIs
- Book Allowance: ₱10,000 per academic year
- Thesis Allowance: ₱10,000
- Monthly Living Allowance: ₱7,000 per month
- Transportation Allowance
- Group Insurance: Premium
- Graduation Allowance: ₱1,000
- PE/MS Uniform Allowance
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the DOST scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Natural born Filipino citizen.
- Be in the top 5% graduating class of the non-STEM strand in the senior high school.
- A member of the STEM strand graduating class in senior high school.
- Be a resident of the municipality and attested by the barangay.
- You should be of good moral character and also in good health.
- It should be the first time you are doing the DOST-SEI examination or did the examination but didn’t qualify for the scholarship.
- You should not have any undergraduate or post-secondary unit.
- You must passed the scholarship examination.
REQUIREMENTS
The following items should be submitted for both RA 7687 and Merit scholarships.
- Personal Information ( Form A)
- Household information and questionnaire.
- Certificate of good moral character.
- Certificate of good health.
- Principal’s Certification ( form E1 or E2).
- Certificate of Residency.
- Parent’s Certification.
- Applicant’s certification.
- A signed declaration by the legal guardian or parent and the applicant.
- A recent 1 by 1-inch picture.
- Photocopy of your birth certificate.
- Parents income tax return for 2019/ Employment contract for OFW/ Brgy certificate of indigency/ BIR certificate of exemption from the filing of ITR.

2. CHED SCHOLARSHIP
The CHED Scholarship Program 2022 is open to all incoming college freshmen. The CHED Scholarship 2022- StuFAPs program intends to help students who are enrolled in accredited public or private higher education institutions (HEIs). This contributes to ensuring that education is available to all, particularly impoverished and deserving children.
SCHOLARSHIP PRIVILEGES
Qualified beneficiaries must enroll in or be currently enrolled in any CHED priority courses and will get financial aid ranging from Php 15,000 to Php 30,000 per semester, depending on the program for which the applicant qualifies.
ELIGIBILITY
- Must be a Filipino citizen;
- Graduating high school student or high school graduate with a general average
- General Weighted Average (GWA)
-For Full State Scholarship Program (FSSP) and Full Private Education Student Financial Assistance (FPESPA), GWA must be 96% or above.
-For Half-SSP and Half-PESPA, GWA must be 93% but not more than 95%.
- Must have a combined annual gross income of parents/guardian which does not exceed Four Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP 400,000), or in cases where the income exceeds PhP 400,000 an applicant must present written certification or medical findings of illness of a family member, or school certifications of two or more dependents enrolled in college;
- Avail of only one government-funded financial assistance program.
REQUIREMENTS:
Citizenship
- A certified true copy of the Birth Certificate.
Academic
- Duly certified true copy of High school report card for incoming freshmen students eligible for college (High School Graduate); and
- Duly certified true copy of grades for Grade 11 and 1st semester of Grade 12 for graduating high school students.
Financial
Any of the following documents must be submitted by student applicants:
- Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of parents or guardian;
- Certificate of Tax Exemption from Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR);
- Certificate of Indigence either from their Barangay or Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD);
- Case Study report from DSWD; or
- Latest copy of contract or proof of income may be considered for children of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and seafarers.

3. GSIS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
A GSIS Scholarship Program (GSP) intends to provide financial assistance to low-income GSIS members’ children or dependents, as well as PTD pensioners under the age of 60.
The pension fund would cover up to Php40,000.00 in tuition and other costs per academic year, as well as a Php3,000 monthly allowance for each scholar. There are 400 scholarships available, with 40 going to disabled people’s dependents, indigenous peoples, and solo or single parents.
All permanent government employees with at least three (3) years of service and a salary grade of 24 or below (or comparable job level) who are active and regular GSIS members at the time of application and have paid premiums for the previous six (6) months are eligible to apply.
ELIGIBILITY
- Children or family members of active GSIS contributors
- Grantees should be college students at any year level (with a four-year or five-year course and enrolled in any CHED-recognized school) without any scholarship from a public or private organization.
- Parents have permanent employment status and are within the salary grade 24 (or its equivalent) and below.
- Have no underpaid or unpaid loan amortization for more than 3 months.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Duly accomplished GSIS Scholarship Application Form
- Certificate of Employment
- Certification from the school that the nominated scholar is accepted as incoming college freshman during the current academic year
- Dependent’s Birth Certificate
- GSIS Print out of Business Partner (BP) Number – please coordinate with the GSIS frontline information officer

4. LANDBANK SCHOLARSHIP
The LANDBANK Gawad Patnubay (Gawad Pag-aaral Tungo sa Maunlad na Bayan) Scholarship Program is an education-to-employment project that aims to help underprivileged but deserving students pursue careers in agriculture and fishery.
Through quality education, the program aims to build skills in contemporary agriculture, reignite passion for the agricultural industry, promote sustainable development, and eliminate poverty in rural areas.
ELIGIBILITY
- Must be a Filipino citizen
- Have gone through initial screening procedures of partner universities (e.g., entrance exams, submission of required documents, and preliminary interviews, which are standard requirements for enrollment).
- Preferably dependents of active members of cooperatives of small farmers and fishers currently being assisted by LANDBANK or LCDFI, or of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs).
- Must be students pursuing BS Agriculture, BS Fisheries or any agriculture-related disciplines.
- With a general weighted average (GWA) of at least 2.5 or its equivalent in each semester, with no grades lower than 3.0 or its equivalent in any subject.
- Must not be enjoying any other financial assistance, grant, or scholarship from other external sources (e.g., foundations, government and private scholarships, pre-need educational plans).
- Annual total family income must not exceed PHP 300,000.00 as stated in their BIR Income Tax Return (ITR), with exemptions on a case-to-case basis as may be determined by the Selection Committee. For example, parents with six (6) or more children may have an income that could exceed PHP 300,000.00 yet still qualify for the scholarship.
REQUIREMENTS
- Duly filled-out scholarship application form
- Photocopy of the certified true copy of birth certificate PSA certified birth certificate
- Two 2”x 2” ID photos
- Medical certificate
- Photocopy of recent ITR of parents or BIR certificate of tax exemption
- Certified true copy of grades:
For incoming 1st year – secondary student’s permanent records or Form 137 with GWA not lower than 85 or its equivalent and no failing grades in any subject; and supporting document/s stating that the applicant has passed the partner school’s entrance exam
For incoming 2nd year to 3rd year college – summary of grades with a GWA of 2.5 per semester or its equivalent with no grade below 3.0 or its equivalent in any subject
- Certificate of good moral character coming from the school or university’s Office of Student Affairs
- One letter of recommendation from a previous teacher/professor
- Current resumé and list of activities, awards, and honors
- 500-word essay on “Why I am pursuing an agriculture-related career”
- Barangay clearance from the applicant’s home barangay

5. OWWA SCHOLARSHIP
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is now accepting applications for their Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Scholarship for Filipino students from appropriately qualified applicants. All students are eligible for this fully supported grant.
ELIGIBILITY
- Must be a child of a married OWWA member or brother/sister of an unmarried OWWA member
- Must be 21 years old or below
- Must be a Filipino citizen
- Be in good health and with good moral character
- Must have an average grade of at least 80% and belong to the upper 20% of the graduating class
REQUIREMENTS
- Accomplished application forms (2 sets)
- 1″x 1″ ID pictures (2 copies)
- Proof of relationship to Member (copy of Birth Certificate of applicant and of the Member if related as brother or sister duly certified by the Local Civil Registrar or NSO)
- Form 137 or Transcript of Records with Principal’s Certification on Scholastic Standing
- Proof of OWWA membership (i.e. Official Receipt of OWWA Contribution/Certification from OWWA Membership Processing Center)
- Health Certificate attesting to physical fitness of an applicant (Form B)
- Certificate of Good Moral Character issued by the School Principal/Guidance Counselor (Form C)
- Certification that applicant belongs to upper 20% of graduating class issued by school principal (2 sets)
- Statement of applicant that he/she has not earned units in any post-secondary/undergraduate course (Form E)
- Sworn Statement that he/she has no pending application for resident immigrant status in any country and does not have dual citizenship signed by parent or legal guardians (Form F)
