The Granddaughter of late SM magnate Henry Sy Sr., Jan Catherine Sy, passed away on Thursday evening, March 18. She was 29.
In a statement the Cup of Faith Facebook page posted, the Sy family said Jan died at 6:35 PM.
“Dear family and friends, tonight, March 18, 2021 at 6:35 PM, our dearest daughter Jan Catherine Sy is now with the Lord Jesus already. Blessed be the name of the Lord. You give and take away. My heart will choose to say, Lord, blessed be your name!” the statement read.
Jan was the vice president in her family’s real estate development arm, SM Development Corporation (SMDC). She was also a known avid equestrienne.
In an interview she gave just this year to Inquirer’s Marge Enriquez, Jan revealed that she had been training in the sport since she was seven years old, mainly in France. At 13, she was already joining local competitions. Her career peaked in 2017 when she joined the CSIO (Official International Competition) in La Baule, France, and was credited with 67 starts since 2010.
On March 14, Jan has been reportedly admitted toa hospital in Taguig for septic shock.
