MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos declares December 26, 2023 as a special non-working holiday throughout the country. 

The declaration was made through Proclamation No. 425 which stated that, “The declaration of 26 December 2023, Tuesday, as an additional special (non-working) day will give the people the full opportunity to celebrate the holiday with their families and loved ones,”.

It stated that this upcoming long weekend accordingly “encourage families to get together and strengthen their relationship leading to a better society” and promote domestic tourism.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) is directed to issue the appropriate guidelines for the implementation of the proclamation for the private sector.



The proclamation was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on December 12, 2023, the President Bongbong Marcos declared December 26 as a special non-working day, for people to spend more time with their families on this Yuletide.

Here are some December Holidays and special non-working holiday to look forward to:

  • December 8, 2023 – Feast of the immaculate conception
  • December 25, 2023 – Christmas Day 
  • December 30, 2023 – Rizal Day 
  • December 31, 2023 – Last day of the year (Proclamation No. 90)
