MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Does anyone know if August 19 is a holiday? Well according to Proclamation No. 296, it is for the Philippines!
The Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines has issued a special non-working holiday for August 19, 2023.
Under Proclamation No. 296, Saturday, August 19, 2023, will be declared a special non-working holiday in the municipality of Angono, Province of Rizal.
As it is stated in the proclamation, “on 19 August 2023, Saturday, the Municipality of Angono, province of Rizal wil mark the signing of its independence as a municipality from the Municipality of Binangonan, Rizal;
Whereas, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the Municipality of Angono be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration.
On August 19, 1938, Commonwealth President Manuel L. Quezon signed an Executive Order No. 158 in order to make the town a separate municipality.
The order has been effective since January 1, 1939 and Angono currently has ten barangays. For this event, residents of Angono will be able to rest on August 19 to celebrate the occasion of their municipality’s independence.
Just like the holiday on Republic Act No. 6741, which is a special non-working holiday on August 19 declared in 2022, the special non-working holiday is for celebrating a special occasion for the municipality. – WhatALife!/Zain
