14 Filipino Celebrities who broke up this year
Jelai Andres and Jon Gutierrez
Since Ex Battalion rapper Jon Gutierrez and Internet personality Jelai Andres first became an item in 2015, fans have already been rooting for their happy ending. Unfortunately, the couple broke up in 2016 when Jon reportedly cheated on Jelai. A year later, the couple rekindled their relationship and eventually married in October 2018.
Jon seemed not being capable of staying faithful, though, as Jelai began sharing cryptic posts in February 2019 hinting a problem brewing in their marriage due to unfaithfulness. But the two didn’t get to part ways right away. Due to their work ties, the two continued to see each other and even briefly reconciled their relationship during the lockdown taping of their TV series released in 2021.
In March 2021, without even confirming their rekindling in public, Jelai accused Jon of cheating again.
Andre Brouillette and Lou Yanong
Former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Andre and Lou started officially dating after leaving the reality TV show in 2018. Sadly, after two years of being together, Andre revealed to fans in a now-deleted Instagram post that he and Lou will be parting ways.
In the morning talk show Magandang Buhay in late May this year, Lou then shared that she had no regrets on her split with Andre, saying, “I guess it’s just in the timing. We needed to get to know ourselves more and grow apart, sadly.” In addition, she said that meeting Andre and “having that experience inside the PBB house is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Kiko Estrada and Devon Seron
What was supposed to be the most romantic day of the year turns out to be heartbreaking for the former lovers Kiko and Devon as they decided to part ways on Valentine’s Day. Before entering into a relationship, Kiko and Devon worked on several projects together since 2012 before becoming official in August 2018.
Alwyn Uytingco and Jennica Garcia
Filipino celebrities Alwyn and Jennica secretly got married in February 2014, only revealing it to the public nine months later. Since tying the knot, the two distance themselves from the limelight, taking on smaller projects to raise their two daughters together. Like any other couple, the two went through struggles and hardships in their relationship, with their biggest yet taking place in 2019. Despite trying to keep their family intact, the two eventually parted ways, with Jennica confirming the separation in May. Amid the speculations, fans have created, neither Jennica nor Alytm shared why they chose to separate.
Scottie Thompson and Pau Fajardo
Pro basketball player Scottie Thompson and Pau Fajardo have been together since the 28-year-old guard was still playing in the NCAA. In front of their friends and family, he proposed to her on January 1, 2021. However, happily-ever-after was not on the book for these two when the news of them splitting up spread like wildfire on social media. Months after the breakup speculation, the PBA star married social media personality Jinky Serrano.
Axel Torres and AJ Raval
Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Axel and sexy actress AJ ended their almost two-year relationship sometime in June. One of the reasons for their split, AJ shared, is her daring role played in various films, which Axel could not manage to adjust. As a result, the sexy actress eventually chose her blossoming career, ending her relationship with the former housemate.
Neil Salvacion and Rabiya Mateo
On June 4, Neil has confirmed that he and beauty queen Rabiya Mateo had officially parted ways amid rumors of their relationship status. His statement posted via Instagram stories came after Rabiya shared in an interview with Boy Abunda that her relationship with Neil is “a complicated situation.” Prior to the split, Neil and Rabiya were together for seven years. Neil was also the beauty queen’s first boyfriend.
Aljur Abrenica and Kylie Padilla
Despite a rocky start in their relationship, Aljur and Kylie tied the knot in December 2018 and have two sons together. The couple seemed to have a fairytale ending when Kylie’s father, Robin Padilla, on July 1 out-of-the-blue dropped the bomb of the couple parting ways as Aljur has been unfaithful to his daughter. The day after, Kylie released an official statement confirming the split.
In an October 1 tweet, Kylie said that she and Aljur actually broke up in April. Everything seemed to settle after that. However, Aljur broke his silence on October 19 and spoke about their split, insinuating that Kylie was hiding something from the public and accused her of cheating first. His statement ignited the fire once more, which the Marites had fun spectating and speculating.
Paolo Contis and LJ Reyes
Paolo and LJ started dating in July 2015 and had a daughter together, born in January 2019. Since then, they began sharing snippets of their lives on their social media accounts and YouTube channels.
In an unexpected turn of events, almost two months after Paolo posted a sweet birthday greeting for LJ, the latter revealed she and the actor had parted ways. LJ flew to the United States with the kids to distance herself from Paolo. Eight days after her announcement, Paolo confirmed and addressed the allegations surrounding their split.
Kiko Estrada and Heaven Paralejo
Barely a month since his breakup with Devon, Kiko started dating Heaven. In August, he confirmed his relationship with the latter actress in an interview with talent manager Ogie Diaz. During the interview, Kiko emphasized that he did not two-time the two actresses as he already broke up with Devon in February before dating Heaven sometime in May.
However, in a YouTube vlog posted in Heaven’s channel on October 25, she revealed, “I’m single, but not ready to mingle.” Prior to the vlog release, fans had already speculated about the couple’s split when Kiko stopped following Heaven on Instagram in early September. The actress unfollowed him about two weeks later.
Maggie Wilson and Victor Consunji
On September 27, after 11 years of marriage, former beauty queen Maggie announced her breakup with her husband Victor on Instagram. They, however, stayed friends and agreed to co-parent their son together.
Wil Dasovich and Alodia Gosiengfiao
Cosplayer Alodia has confirmed via Facebook that she and vlogger Wil have ended their four-year relationship on November 14. She, however, did not elaborate on the reason for the split and instead asked fans to give them privacy. Wil also kept mum on their split.
Rayver Cruz and Janine Gutierrez
In a report by PEP on November 15, actors Rayver and Janine called it quits after five years of dating due to a lack of time for each other as both are busy with their acting careers.
Kate Jagdon and Beatrice Luigi Gomez
Another beauty queen ending a longtime relationship, Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez and Kate Jagdon, ended their six-year relationship. While Gomez kept silent about the breakup, Jagdon confirmed the split in an Instagram story on November 23, saying that the “past few weeks have been the most difficult time of [her] personal life.” She added that it was a conscious decision to keep mum about the matter, but she has since decided to release a statement “before rumors and falsifications get out of hand.”
