PAGASA: No tropical cyclone until weekend

WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), there will be no tropical cyclone until the weekend. However, a Low-Pressure Area (LPA) may form outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Its trough may bring rains over Southern Mindanao by Monday.

The weather agency reports that the shear line continues to bring heavy rains over Southern Luzon and Visayas. Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan brings cold weather and light rains over the northern parts of Luzon.

The rest of Visayas and Mindanao are forecast to have fair weather with chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms.

No tropical cyclone is expected until the weekend, the weather agency reports. However, an LPA may form in the cloud clusters spotted southeast of Mindanao outside PAR. The trough or extension of the LPA may bring rains over the eastern portion of Mindanao on Sunday and the whole of Mindanao on Monday.

For today’s weather forecast, the Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, and Romblon are forecast to experience light to moderate with, at times, heavy rain due to the shear line.

The eastern section of Luzon, such as the Cagayan Valley, Aurora, the Cordillera Region, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Moutain Province up to Laguna and Oriental Mindoro, will have cloudy skies and light to moderate rains due to the Northeast Monsoon.

The rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, may experience the same weather conditions as yesterday, with partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

The shear line also brings heavy rains over Aklan, Capiz, and Northern Samar. Residents are warned of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms that may cause flash floods and landslides.

On the other hand, the rest of Visayas is forecast to have cloudy skies with isolated rain showers in the morning and mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon and evening.

Today, Mindanao may expect fair weather conditions with temperatures reaching up to 34 degrees Celsius. From afternoon till evening, there are high chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms, especially in the Surigao Provinces and Dinagat Islands.

PAGASA continues to issue a gale warning to areas in Luzon and Eastern Visayas. Waves are expected to reach up to 4.5 meters. See the full list below:
