MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Social Security System (SSS) has announced pensioners will receive their 13th month and December 2022 pension by the first week of December.
The agency made the announcement through a press release, declaring the first batch of pensions to be released today, December 1, 2022, with contingency dates from the release date until December 15, 2022.
Meanwhile, SSS will release the second batch on December 4, 2022. The dates of contingency starts from the release date until December 16, 2022.
For pensioners set to receive their pension on Sunday, December 4, the distribution will be moved to December 2, 2022.
SSS has also requested its accredited non-PESONet participating banks to release pensions to their SSS-pensioner clients no later than December 4, 2022. Meanwhile, the Philippine Postal Corporation has been tasked to expedite the delivery of checks for pensioners who receive their pensions through the post.
According to SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Michale G. Regino, the pension fund for the last month of the year totals up to Php 29.74 billion. It will cover 3.36 million pensioners in the country.
“Since December 1988, we have been granting our pensioners the 13th month pension, which is equivalent to their respective monthly pensions. This additional financial assistance or Christmas gift is our way of thanking them for their support to the SSS during their working years,” Regino said.
