The lady attendees of the 2021 Met Gala are being lauded for their outfits with the trending phrase SHE IS THE MOMENT.
The 2021 Met Gala, also called the Met Ball, is an annual fundraiser ball. The Met Gala is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, located in New York City. The Gala is also a benefit for the Institute. Additionally, it’s a massive celebration of fashion, with a theme assigned to the attendees every year. This year’s ball comes hot on the heels of the 2021 VMAs, with several stars having gone from one event to the other.
It’s also an event that invites buzz, with social media users commentating on million-dollar fashion statements by famous actors, artists, and the otherwise top elite.
This year, a special spotlight is on the women with the trending phrase, SHE IS THE MOMENT. Just look at the Twitter posts, and you’ll see why.

CL wears a denim off-the-shoulder cloak. Denim is an enduring fabric in the American fashion scene, a big nod to the Met Gala’s 2021 theme, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.”
While some called for Rihanna to do a big outfit reveal under that black coat, it’s still a magnificent look for the artist and CEO.
Next up, Jennifer Lopez came onto the scene wearing a cowboy hat, shading her eyes from the glare of the lights. Her ensemble doesn’t dim her superstar shine in the slightest! Also, she even shared a kiss through masks with old flame Ben Affleck!
Camila Cabello wore sparkling purple and matching eyeshadow. The sultry edge matched her well. Also, her boyfriend Shawn Mendes joined her on the red carpet.
Also spotted at the Met red carpet were Lorde, Megan Fox, Zoë Kravitz, and Brazilian rapper Karol Conká. So, it’s safe to say that their outfits were not to be outdone.
Additionally, the She Is The Moment phrase has its roots in The Wendy Williams Show, where the titular host says of rapper Lil Kim: “She’s an icon, she’s a legend, and she is the moment!” The declaration came as an agreement to a video of Lil Kim stating that people should “put respect on [her] name.” Additionally, she stated that she had an “iconic status,” and that she was “the moment.”
While the phrase has grown and transcended its original usage, it’s still a powerful statement celebrating women.
