MINDANAO, PHILIPPINES — Facebook user in the name of Lotus Arts posted an invitation for artists in Mindanao to join the “Panit Bukog 5″ – Mindanao Contemporary Art Soft Launch and Orientation on May 25, 2023 at Xavier University Little Theater.
The launch of the event is a short tribute to the renowned artist that recently passed away, Nonoy Estarte.
The post is followed by a link for pre-registration which requires interested participants to fill in some information.
The Panit Bukog art exhibit in Xavier University is known for showcasing Mindanao’s artistry displaying a variety of works from wall-mounted pieces, sculptures, installations, performances to videos, animations, digital images, and multi-media art forms.
At the previous event, Paint Bukog 4, artists also held talks to share their passion and the process and workshops for them to hone artistic talents.
Taking its name from the Visayan term skin (panit) and bone (bukog), the exhibit will focus on “essential and unique Mindanaoan realities lived and immersed in by participating artists.”
Paint Bukog has been designed for a traveling exhibit since it began in 2000, moving from Cagayan de Oro to Iligan in 2001, and Davao in 2002.
