pagasa weather update today august 24 2023

WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the center of Tropical Depression “Goring”, was estimated to be around 400 km East Northeast of Aparri according to all available data.

The maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving West Northwestward slowly. Southwest Monsoon will also affect Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Weather Today – August 24, 2023

Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the trough of tropical depression Goring, which impacts the areas with possible flooding or landslides due to moderate with, at times, heavy rains.

Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and BARMM will be affected with cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the Southwest Monsoon impacting areas with flooding or landslides during heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by Southwest Monsoon and localized thunderstorms, which are also being caused by the tropical depression Goring, which impacts the areas with flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The northern and western sections of Luzon will have light to moderate wind speeds directed from Southwest to West, while coastal water conditions will also be normal. The rest of the country will also have light to moderate wind speeds directing South to Southwest with normal water conditions.

In the next three days, Tropical Depression GORING is expected to bring slightly significant amounts of rain. However, given the tropical cyclone’s close approach to land, any westward adjustment in the course projected could bring about heavy rain over parts of the Cagayan Valley in the upcoming three days. As a result, it is suggested that the general public and disaster management keep an eye out for updates. – WhatALife!/Zain
