WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Southwest Monsoon continues to affect Luzon with heavy rain showers and thunderstorms heavily.
A tropical cyclone was spotted outside of PAR as of 3:00 AM today. The tropical storm LAN was located 2,670 KM East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon with a maximum speed of 75 km/h near the center of gustiness up to 90 km/h. The storm is slowly moving westward.

Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, and Benguet will be affected by cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms which the Southwest Monsoon causes. The weather conditions may affect the areas with possible flooding or landslides during heavy rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers, thunderstorms caused by the Southwest Monsoon and localized thunderstorms from other areas. Flash floods or landslides will impact areas during severe thunderstorms.
Extreme Northern Luzon will have strong winds directing Southwest, affecting the coastal waters in rough conditions. The rest of Luzon will have moderate to strong wind speeds directed Southwest with moderate coastal water conditions. Visayas and Mindanao will also have light to moderate wind speeds directing Southwest, with coastal water conditions being normal.
PAGASA has issued a gale warning for northern Luzon. Strong gale force winds associated with Southwest Monsoon enhanced by a severe tropical storm are taking effect on the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon.
The areas the PAGASA issued gale-force warnings are:
- Batanes
- Babuyan Islands
