The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported a magnitude 5.1 quake near Digos, Davao del Sur on Thursday afternoon, May 6.
PHIVOLCS recorded the earthquake, a tectonic in origin, around 2:24 PM today at a shallow depth of 17 kilometers (km), with its epicenter located 12km southwest of Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.
The agency also registered Intensity II in the towns of Kiamba, South Cotabato and General Santos City. Meanwhile, Koronadal City in South Cotabato and Kidapawan City in Cotabato recorded Intensity V and III, respectively.

PHIVOLCS added that there is no damage reported, and aftershocks will be expected.
