CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, PHILIPPINES — On September 5, 2022, people aged 18 years and above joined the ‘Kahigayonan: Skills Training Expo & Job Fair’ at the Gymnasium of USTP (University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines). The event lasted for one day and ended at 3 pm in the afternoon.

The event was sponsored by Oro Youth Development Office, SK Federation, and Out of School Youth Development Alliance.

With more than 40 local and overseas employers waiting for them, participants were given a wide range of opportunities, some of which were

There’s also free enrollment to participants for skills training such as Housekeeping NC II, Carpentry NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC I & II, and Automotive Servicing NC I and II, among others.

Free orientation was also offered by the City Scholarships Office in the field of scholarship. In addition, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Agricultural Training Institute of the Department of Agriculture also provided orientation in the field of livelihood.

The Bayanihan sa Kaumahan para Kabatonanan, Kaumahan, ug Katubigan (BAKA) also accepted applications for its Year Two, to train interested young people in planting with the skills involved.

Hired on the spot

Seven were hired on the spot by the employers Oro Gadgets, Ororama, Activation Machine, and RTMI Rural Transit. They are Honey Grace Labajo, Jennecelle Bagtoltol, Geric Puasan, Jeric Jomarito, Jason Manzo, Vannebeer Bush Agustin, Nilo Jr Magdula.
