MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Actress Jane de Leon recently starred in a music video by P-pop group ALAMAT.
De Leon played the role of a local mermaid called Magindara, which is believed to inhabit the waters of Bohol.
The music video for ALAMAT’s new song “Day and Night” features the actress emerging from the water and swimming up to shore before growing legs, eventually turning her into a human.
ALAMAT then spent time with the mermaid and played a local Filipino game called Tumbang Preso just before the actress returned to the water.
De Leon wore a dark blue dress and T’boli brass accessories.
The Darna star also shared a glimpse of the music video’s behind-the-scenes on Thursday, June 15, on her Tiktok page.
“Not the best idea,” she wrote in her caption.
Joey De Guzman directed and edited the music video, while Jason Paul Laxamana served as the creative director.
ALAMAT is a six-member sing-and-dance boy group that aims to promote the Philippines’ cultural elements through its music. The members hail from different regions in the country and speak multiple Filipino languages, which is a characteristic that makes them unique from other local artists.
They are known for their hit songs “Kasmala”, “ABKD,” “Maharani,” and their debut song “Kbye.” They released their newest song, “Day and Night,” on Youtube on Wednesday, June 14.
