The Philippine government offers print-ready digital versions of the national ID, while the plastic form has yet to arrive. Individuals who applied for a PhilSys ID or PhilID can request a printout of the electronic version or ePhilID. This article will provide you with the most important details about Philip and the guidelines for obtaining one.

What is an MPhil?

The ePhilID is a digital copy of the national ID that provides a convenient and secure way to access various government services and benefits. If you wish to obtain an ePhilID, you should book an appointment and bring your transaction number and appointment slip. Appointments are usually made online; applicants must be at their chosen registration center.

Who is eligible to obtain an MPhil?

Any citizen that has completed the PhilSys Registration process and obtained a PhilSys Number can download their ePhilID, subject to availability. The ePhilID temporarily holds the same validity as the physical ID card. Moreover, PSA expedites printing and delivering physical ID cards, and registrants can still enjoy the benefits of having a PhilID with their ePhilID.

What does the ePhilID contain?

  • PhilSys Card Number (PCN)
  • Last name, given name, middle, and suffix (if available) Sex
  • Blood type
  • Marital Status (if declared)
  • Date and place of birth
  • Front-facing photograph
  • Address
  • Generation date
  • QR Code

Is the ePhilID valid?

Yes. The ePhilID is a “valid and sufficient proof of identity and age, subject to authentication,” as per Undersecretary Dennis S. Mapa.

It shall be honored and accepted as the official government-issued identification document of a person for their transactions in all national government agencies, local government units (LGUs), government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), government financial institutions (GFIs), financial institutions, and private sector.

Those who refuse to accept, acknowledge, and/or recognize the printed ePhilID without just and sufficient cause shall be penalized per Section 19 of RA No. 11055.

How do you get a printed copy of your digital National ID?

Here’s a list of steps you can follow to obtain a digital national ID:

  1. Visit and log in to appt.philsys.gov.ph and check if you have a PhilSys Number.
  2. Book an appointment at your chosen registration center.
  3. On the exact day of the appointment, go to the registration center. Bring with you your transaction number and appointment slip.
  4. Claim the printed ePhilID and use it as proof of identity.

The ePhilID applicant must claim their ePhilID in person during their appointment. In addition, minors should also be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians upon claiming their printed ePhilID.

How to verify ePhilID validity?

The ePhilID is authenticated by scanning the QR code via the PhilSys Check (https://verify.philsys.gov.ph/QrScan/).

“If the ePhilID is authentic, the PhilSys Check will display a successful verification message and should match the demographic information found in the printed, as well as a front-facing photo of the person,” read the PSA Public Advisory released on September 30, 2022.

The QR code also uses public-private key cryptography, ensuring it cannot be tampered with. – WhatALife!/Val
