Every overseas trip, whether for leisure or business, needs the use of a passport. A passport, which serves as a confirmation of national identity and citizenship, is a must-have item for anyone wanting to travel internationally.
Passport Requirements 2022
- Online Appointment Confirmation at www.passport.gov.ph.
- Duly Accomplished Application Form
- Birth Certificate and VALID ID
The copy of your birth certificate must be:
- Original
- PSA-authenticated
- Printed on PSA security paper
Any of the following Valid ID is accepted:
- Social Security System (SSS) Card
- Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Card
- Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID)
- LTO Driver’s License
- Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) ID
- Philippine Identification (PhilID)
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) E-Card
- Voter’s ID or Voter’s Certification from the Officer of Election with Dry Seal. If presenting the Voter’s Certificate, you also need to provide NBI or police clearance.
- PNP Firearms License
- Airman License (issued August 2016 onwards)
- Philippine Postal ID (issued November 2016 onwards)
- Senior Citizen ID (if senior)
- School ID or Certificate of Enrolment with student’s photo and the school’s dry seal (if student)
- Seafarer’s Record Book (SRB) issued from February 2020 onwards by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA)
- Personal Appearance
Your biometric data and photo will be collected as part of the passport application procedure.
Take note of the correct clothing or dress code. During photo capture, colored contact lenses and accessories such as earrings, necklaces, or other facial piercings are not permitted.
If the applicant is a minor
These are the additional requirements for minor applicants:
- Marriage Certificate of parents
- Certified True Copy of Local Civil Registrar (LCR) Birth Certificate.
- One copy of each parent’s valid government-issued ID.
- Passport

STEP-BY-STEP PASSPORT APPLICATION PROCESS IN 2022
- Schedule an Appointment Online.
How can I make an appointment online?
- Go to the DFA Online Passport Appointment System website.
- Choose between INDIVIDUAL Appointment and GROUP Appointment.
- Choose a DFA office/branch.
- Select a date and time from the provided calendar.
2. Fill out the application form as completely as possible.
Complete the four-page online application form.
Keep in mind that you only have 15 minutes to accomplish this task. To save time, gather the following information before scheduling an online appointment.
3. Pay the passport processing fee.
- Regular Processing: Within and outside Metro Manila, this costs P950 and takes 10-15 days.
- Express Processing: Within and outside Metro Manila, this costs P1200 and takes 5-7 days.
4. On the day of your appointment, go to the DFA Office of your choice.
On the scheduled date, you must personally arrive at the DFA office of your choice. Remember to bring all of the requirements, as well as the Application Form printout (hard copy), the schedule confirmation checklist, and your eReceipt (two copies).
5. Get your passport.
If you did not use the passport delivery service when submitting your application at the DFA office of your choice, you must return on the passport’s release date. The DFA will send you an email if there is a change in the schedule.
Bring your application receipt and any other proof you have, such as a claim stub, if appropriate.

How to correct a mistake on passport application form in the Philippines?
Any mistake in the application form can be corrected on the day of your appointment. Please tell your passport processor about it. However, understand that incorrect information may cause delay in your application, and misrepresentation may also result in the refusal/cancellation of your appointment.
Can I renew my passport 1 year before expiration in the Philippines?
To leave the Philippines and travel overseas, the Bureau of Immigration requires that your passport be valid for at least six (6) months. However, if you want to travel out of the nation soon, it’s best to renew your passport one (1) year before it expires, as getting a slot through an online appointment can be difficult.

How to pay passport appointment in 7/11?
- Visit a 7/11 store with a CLIQQ kiosk.
- Click the Bills Payment option and search for “DFA.”
- Enter your reference number, contact number, and the exact amount you’ll be paying. Then, click NEXT.
- Input your contact number for contacting purposes, click NEXT.
- After verifying your details, click NEXT to print your receipt.
- Take the receipt to the 7/11 counter for payment.
What should I bring when I go to pick up my passport?
Bring your original passport receipt.
How to apply for lost passport?
In the event that your valid passport is lost or stolen, you may file a lost valid passport application with the Consular Office of your choice. A Police Report (in English) and an Affidavit of Loss will be needed for you. Prior to the filing of an application for the replacement of a lost valid passport, there will be a 15-day waiting period.
How to reschedule passport appointment in the Philippines?
You can change your schedule via the Reschedule feature. Visit the View Appointment page of DFA, input your Appointment Code and Email Address to View or Reschedule your appointment.
What to wear for passport photo?
The DFA has a list of guidelines to be followed on photo capturing. Generally, applicants are encouraged to wear a decent attire. Eyeglasses or contact lenses are not allowed (except for contact lenses needed for medical reasons and do not change the true eye color.) In addition, earring and hair accessories are not allowed.
