(Updated: 06/10/22) Walang forever! It seems that our list of Filipino Celebrity Splits of 2021 will have another set of additions in 2022. This year, let’s take a look at the list of Filipino celebrity couples who have called it quits so far and some who are rumoured to have split up.
Juan Karlos and Maureen Wroblewitz
On June 10, 2022, Juan Karlos and Maureen Wroblewitz announced their breakup through sentimental posts on social media, ending their relationship that started back in 2017.
Singer Juan Karlos posted on Instagram with the caption “Magka-ibigan na ngayo’y matalik na magkaibigan” hinting that the breakup is a clean one and accepted on both sides.
“Lagi mong tandaan na kahit pagbaliktarin mo man ang mundo, kahit saang lupalop man ng kalawakan, ikaw parin ang nagiisa kong buwan,” he said.
Buwan is Karlos’ hit song in 2018, featuring his now-former girlfriend as his love interest.
He ended the post with: “Maraming salamat, mahal kita, at hanggang sa muli.”
Model and beauty queen Maureen Wroblewitz also went on Instagram and shared a simple photo with the text, “life is not happening to you; life is happening for you.”
She then added a caption with, “some things come to an end and that’s okay. but now it’s time for us to grow on our own.” Her caption further hinted that growth is the reason for their healthy breakup.
Karlos then commented on the post with a sweet message about his gratefulness for spending the past years with Wroblewitz and accepting that people grow and must enjoy while still young.
“I am the luckiest person in the world to have spent the past years of my life with you and I wouldn’t choose anybody else to have spend those years with. You’ve taught me so much and I have learned, I am learning, and I will learn more. We are both so young and we have to enjoy ourselves. I want to see you succeed. I love seeing you achieve your dreams. You will. We will. Here’s to growth and love for ourselves. For there is no greater love than self-love,” he said.
The singer ends his message in German: “Dankëschon, Ich liebe dich and auf wiedersehen,” which translates in English to, “Thank you, I love you, and goodbye.”
The former couple is both half-German and half-Filipino.
Moira dela Torre and Jason Hernandez
In a recent joint announcement by singer-songwriter Moira dela Torre and husband Jason Hernandez, the former couple has confirmed their split after 3 years of marriage.
Jason reveals that he was unfaithful to his wife. The cheating rumours started earlier this year when fans noticed Moira deleting posts of her husband over on her social media accounts. While the couple denied the rumours, it was confirmed later on May 31, 2022, through their announcement.
Alyssa Valdez and Kiefer Ravena (Unconfirmed)
Despite having released statements asking for privacy from fans, there is yet to be a confirmation of the breakup of sports stars Alyssa Valdez and Kiefer Ravena.
The couple has been together for six years and is considered the pillars of the national teams for volleyball and basketball in the Philippines.
Amid the breakup rumours, Valdez’s camp posted a tweet on May 26, clarifying that no other party was involved.
“We appreciate the concern, but this decision does not involve any other party. Let us avoid making up stories and spreading false rumors,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Ravena’s team has yet to confirm the breakup. However, the player has changed his social media profile picture from him and his girlfriend Valdez to him and his brother Thirdy.
Again, no confirmation has been made, but sports anchor and former volleyball player Gretchen Ho, along with other personalities and news outlets, have confirmed the breakup.
Zeinab Harake and Skusta Clee
Vlogger Zeinab Harake confirmed her breakup with Rapper Skusta Clee (Daryl Ruiz) during her interview with Toni Gonzaga in Toni Talks.
There, the vlogger shared how her partner cheated on her, of which he admitted to Zeinab in ‘brutal’ details.
Zeinab also confirmed that while she was carrying her late baby Moon, she and Skusta Clee had already split up. She also shared about how she buried her baby Moon alone after her miscarriage.
Meanwhile, Skusta Clee has released a song about forgiveness called “Kumpisal,” collaborating with Gloc-9.
Kylie Versoza and Jake Cuenca
Kylie and Jake’s relationship ended on a relatively good note.
Rumours of their breakup began when Kylie posted a cryptic tweet and cried during the noontime show It’s Showtime when asked a question about relationships.
Jake Cuenca confirmed their split after three years of being together.
“I’m happy we were able to finish this chapter of our lives the same way we started it. As friends. Wherever you are or whatever you’re doing, I will always be sending you love and positivity,” said Jake in an Instagram post.
Ana Jalandoni and Kit Thompson
One of the Filipino celebrity splits in 2022 that really made the headlines is Ana Jalandoni and Kit Thompson’s controversial break up.
During their trip to Tagaytay in March, Kit Thompson physically abused and detained Ana Jalandoni in their hotel. Ana shared that Kit dragged her back to their hotel room when he found her outside. The actor allegedly thought that his girlfriend had left her like how she left her husband back in 2018.
Ana said during the March press conference that Kit threatened to kill her if she left him. The actress was able to call for help through messenger when Kit fell asleep. Her former partner was immediately taken to the police. Later, Anna said that she received a message from Kit saying sorry on Instagram.
Barbie Imperial and Diego Loyzaga
After a year of being together, Barbie Imperial and Diego Loyzaga called it quits this February.
During her talk with ABS-CBN’s MJ Felipe, Barbie confirmed her breakup without stating the reason. She also shared that they parted on good terms.
Their breakup rumours began with Diego Loyzaga going on a US trip alone. Also, fans have noticed that the former couple was not posting photos together on their social media accounts anymore.
Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez (Rumoured)
In January, after only three months of marriage, Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez were subject to breakup rumours because of alleged “cheating.”
The rumour mill began when Tom posted a video which featured a dialogue that sounded like a breakup scene. There were also other interactions on social media that fans were quick to pick up, such as Carla liking a “cheater” comment and Tom declaring his love for his wife on her post.
Additionally, Carla had decided to sell her condo unit for less than the market price. But what really somehow cleared the situation was the actress’ father, PJ Abellana, who revealed that Tom had a one-night stand. The father, however, clarified his comment a few days later, saying that nothing happened and Tom had explained it to his wife.
Neither Carla nor Tom has by far made any comments about this issue.
Trina Candaza and Carlo Aquino
In January, model-vlogger Trina Candaza and actor Carlo Aquino were the subjects of the rumour mill about a breakup. This was after Trina posted on Facebook, hinting a third-party involved.
On March 31, Trina replied to a fan comment about getting back together with her partner.
“Mahirap na po magkabalikan lalo na kung yung mga taong nakapaligid support sa pagiging single ng tao na para bang walang batang nawalan ng buong pamilya,” she responded.
A few days later, Carlo confirmed their split, saying that they were on talking terms with regard to their daughter Enola Mithi.
It’s always sad to hear about your favorite couple breaking up, especially when they are the reason you try to believe in love. However, take this as a lesson to understand that celebrities are people too. They make mistakes, they get hurt, and they try to move on. It’s important to give them the privacy they need so they can heal and grow to be better people.
